Ngau Kee Beef Noodles, Jalan Tengkat Tung Shin

This place is more commonly know as Famous Beef Noodles, Jalan Alor. This is because it is located at Jalan Tengkat Tung Shin which is located behind Jalan Alor. From Jalan Alor, go straight toward the far end and then cross to opposite road which is also opposite to the parking lots opposite Federal Hotel.

Beef ball noodles soup large, RM 6.00-6.50.
The prices written are approximate price since I had forgotten. Though many claimed that the beef noodles are the best in town, I would rather say that it was just OK. Not too bad nor too good.

Hidden Gem in the Back Alley @Jalan Bunga Raya

Long heard and seen TV programmes on the fresh and cheap seafood served at the back alley/lane but have no idea on its exact location. The seafood, better known as the cockle stall, is located at the back alley off Jalan Bunga Raya, just somewhere around Madam’s King Departmental Store.

Spotted the Madam King’s Departmental Store

the back alley is between Madam King’s and Kong Wah Optometrist.

Don’t worry; it’s not that dark inside if you’ve managed to find the right place.

To be honest, this is not the place of hygiene: sitting on tiny wooden stools between drains with possibility of falling down (we’ve seen Caucasian fell right from the stool), cramp seating to the extent of elbow gesture with the neighboring person, motorcycles passing by releasing exhaust gas with only inches away from bumping, and don’t expect the tar road to be clean.

Cuttlefish with Kangkung鱿鱼蕹
Best cuttlefish with Kangkung I’ve had in my life! Soft yet chewy.

Clam/Kepah,
Another plate of freshness.

Cockle, better known as “螄蚶” (pronounced as “si ham” in Cantonese).
I usually do not fond of cockle due to its bloody appearance and fishy taste. But trust me when I say I have finally understood the Chinese saying “腥与鲜,一线之间”, which means there lies only a fine line between fishy and freshness.
Of all the cockles I’ve had before, these beg to differ with its freshness which words alone are unable to describe.

Dip that with the special sauce made by mixing of few sauces (consisting flavours of sweet and spicy), topping of crushed peanut and lime juice!
The sauce goes so well with cockles, you’ll certainly go addictive!

if you are able to put the hygiene issue behind, I guarantee the food will be very much worth it.

Or perhaps in another perspective, eat it the authentic way, as this is how the local eats, 30 years ago, in the exact same place.

Truly a hidden gem in the back alley off Jalan Bunga Raya.

与母亲边走边吃边喝边买。。。哈哈!

今天国庆日难得假期三兄弟和三位媳妇带老妈子去金保吃点心.
然后在去怡保上环18广场,
边吃边走边买边喝,
到了喝茶时间二嫂请我们到Secret Receipe(十个乐色彼)

Gopeng Lai Fun @ 务边著名濑粉~志云茶室

虽然比不上什么大饭店的豪华早餐,
不过在小镇里的老店叫一碗清汤面配几件料在来
一杯热捧捧的白咖啡果然有另一种风味。。。

Penang Street Art

Lithuanian artist Ernest Zacharevic is leaving his mark with beautiful wall painting of children all across historical Georgetown

The popular wall painting in Armenian Street

At here you can see a little girl riding a bicycle with a small boy (probably her little brother) sitting on the back of the bicycle. The coolest part is that it has a real bicycle mounted to the wall, which makes the beautiful mural even more awesome. What a nice piece of art

‘Boy On Motorbike’ 3D Wall Mural At Lebuh Ah Quee by Ernest Zacharevic – The famous painter artist in Penang who did the scary kung fu girl, the 3D bicycle brother and sister and more wall mural has did one latest mural again at Lebuh Ah Quee, just a street next to Armenian Street which features a young boy painted on the wall riding on a real motorcycle mounted to the wooden door.Cool right?
